White Oak & beyond in the early 1950s

This picture was taken sometime in the late 40′s or early 50′s of the North West area of White Oak, South West area of Howard Park and the Eastern area of Beverly Terrace in San Carlos.  The street in the fore front (circle) is Oakview Drive.   Just above Oakview is Edgehill, to the right is Wildwood and Howard.   Toward the top of the picture you can see Brittan Ave, Lupin Way and Rockridge Road.  The hill on the upper right of the picture is now Melendy Drive.  Note all the open space, I have been told that before Melendy Drive was developed horses grazed on the land.  In only 15 short years Melendy Drive and upper Beverly Terrace had been developed along with the addition of San Carlos High School.

The vacant lots on Oakview Drive were developed in the late 1950s and early 1960s.  The property on the tip of the loop of Oakview Drive was sold then torn down.  Several years ago five new homes were constructed on the property.
